Students receive National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) scholarships
In 2009, the National Pawnbrokers Association gave $18,000.00 in student scholarships. NPA Executive Director, Dana Meinecke, says that "these students are top of their class and all work very hard to achieve excellence. Pawn shops are always looking for an opportunity to give back to the community ."
NPA Future Business Leaders Scholarship Awards
Decatur Jewelry and Pawn presented Logan Bloemer of Effingham, Illinois the 2009 Future Business Leaders Scholarship award. Logan is attending the University of Illinois this fall in Champaign, IL. Also present is Wade Bloemer, Decatur Jewelry & Pawn's 2008 scholarship recipient.

Tyler Waugh, son of David and Lisa Waugh of Mt. Pleasant, was awarded the $1,000 scholarship just in time, as he prepares to being studying at North Carolina State University. Sponsored by the National Pawnbrokers Association board member Nancy Martin, owner of Albemarle’s Top Dollar Jewelry and Loan.
